DAY 4.

Day Four was spent relaxing... and making a list of places and people to visit next.

Stew and John ran errands in the morning... visiting, shopping for supplies for Campamento, taxi-ing people here, there and everywhere.

Joanne and I took the girls to the mall in Managua for a bit, where we mingled with the Nicaraguan wealthies. Stores like Guess, Tommy Hilfiger and Gap were typical of what you'd see in any North American mall. But only about 10% of the Nicaraguan population can actually afford to shop here. That 10% are extremely rich and live in sprawling mansions in a very established area in the city of Managua. They are distinguishable by their designer clothing and not just the fact that they HAVE vehicles, but very expensive ones, at that. What a contrast to the poverty I've only seen here, so far. Apparently no such thing as "middle-class" in Nicaragua!

Remember I mentioned the how skinny and malnourished the animals are in Nicaragua?

I wasn't kidding.

My camera has officially given up the ghost. Thankfully, John has the identical camera that he's willing to offer on loan for the remainder of our trip. My favoritest cousin in the whole wide world.

We have some very special plans to visit someone very special tomorrow. Won't mention any more details and spoil the surprise! Check in for tomorrow's update!

YES! So frustrating. At least it's covered under warranty, since we just bought it a few months ago. If I have to end up with a new model, I'll be in touch with you for recommendations! PS.. you NEED to update your blog!
